The former minister of information and the first director of the Jeddah high school launched the first forum dedicated to high school students. The forum, under the patronage of the Education General Management and the Private Industrial Schools Committee in Jeddah, was aimed at promoting higher level education to both men and women in the Kingdom with the theme, “Your future is in your hands, take advantage of it.” During the forum high school students were able to complete an evaluation form and the results would indicate which field they would be most suited to enter once they begin their university career. Al-Bassem, an Evaluation Adviser for the National Center for Evaluation said the Center aims to improve educational evaluation methods in order to improve education in the Kingdom as well as provide research opportunities benefiting students and their education. Al-Bassem also said most of the university institutions in the Kingdom depend on the center's evaluation tests for accepting the large number of applicants. The universities which use the center's tests include “King Abdulaziz University, King Saud University, King Faisal University, Imam Mohammed Bin Saud Islamic University, the Islamic University in Al-Madina, and Taif University,” Al-Bassem said. Several psychological and educational experts where on hand at the forum to help advise students through the confusing time of choosing a college for their future. __
