The month of Ramadan this year is projected to see a rise in temperatures as it coincides with the height of summer, the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) has warned. Hussein Al-Qahtani, PME spokesman, said that the final ten days of the month, however, are expected to see a gradual fall in night-time temperatures. “The PME's annual report says that the month of Ramadan, which will run from Aug. 11 to Sept. 9, falls during the summer season,” Al-Qahtani said. “Ramadan 2009 witnessed temperatures of 49.4 degrees Centigrade in the shade in Makkah, and 48.4 degrees in Madina for a period of under an hour.”
