Business blooms ‘more than ever' TAIF – Large numbers of visitors from throughout the country and Gulf states here to enjoy the weather and summer activities are causing severe overcrowding, especially in commercial streets and near malls. Hundreds of cars throng main streets, malls' parking lots and the internal streets of the Central Zone, where dozens of modern and folk markets are located. Investors and shop and restaurant owners say business is thriving more than ever. A visitor from Kuwait, Muhammad Al-Ajmi, who is staying at a resort, said Taif is his favorite summer destination. “It's the favorite destination for all Gulf citizens especially Kuwaitis,” he said. Another Kuwaiti visitor, Khaled Al-Ajmi, said what makes the city special “is its location that is the best in the Gulf. It is close to the Holy Sites and has one of the nicest climates in the region, mild temperatures and lots of rain, which is missing in most Gulf cities, especially in the summer.” The city of fine farms and beautiful forests has been prepared for the tourism season with parks – 700 parks – and other attractions. Housing, playgrounds, peddlers and shops are provided in the governorate's southern area, where forests, valleys and green landscaping attract visitors who enjoy the terrain and scenery. The city, home to Middle East's largest cable car station, which connects Taif to Makkah and overlooks Wadi Nomaan, recently witnessed the opening of its biggest commercial project, which includes 30-floor apartment buildings. This year's summer program is full of recreational, cultural and social activities for people of all ages, said Muhammad Bin Saad Al-Thubaiti, Deputy Secretary General of the Tourism Promotion Committee in Taif. The largest shopping tent, entertainment, restaurants, acrobatic shows, trained-animal shows and other activities are all available, he said, adding that preparations were made by relevant authorities, in cooperation with the private sector, to introduce top quality services and programs for visitors. New cultural, religious, social and historic programs have been added to enhance the summer experience for visitors, he added.
