Thousands of spectators lined up the southern Obhur Corniche Thursday night to watch the spectacular fireworks that lit up the Jeddah skyline for 15 minutes as part of the opening ceremony of the 31st Jeddah Festival. The fireworks show to the accompaniment of music was performed by a professional team that came all the way from Dubai. More than five tons of combustible material was used to create the pyrotechnics from three barges. On behalf of Makkah Emir Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the ceremony was inaugurated by Prince Misha'l Bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah. Prince Misha'l said that the Jeddah Ghair festival welcomes guests from all over the Kingdom. The opening ceremony also included Saudi folklore bands and an operetta with the participation of famous singers.
