Quade Cooper and Matt Giteau shared the goalkicking duties and 17 points as Australia edged Ireland 22-15 in a one-off rugby international Saturday. Cooper kicked two penalties and scored a critical try which let Australia take a 16-15 lead to halftime after a first half of two lead changes. Giteau, kicked two penalties in the second to seal Australia's win and sustain its 31-year winning streak over Ireland on home soil. The win allowed Australia to end its June test program with a 3-1 record: wins over Fiji and Ireland and a shared two-test series with England. South Africa routs Italy Morne Steyn scores the first 20 points and finishes with 26 overall as South Africa overruns Italy 55-11 Saturday in the second rugby union test in East London in South Africa. Flyhalf Steyn crossed for two tries and kicked two penalties and five conversions to guide the Springboks to a 2-0 series win. The Springboks had a subdued 29-13 win in last week's first test. The Springboks rounded off preparation for their Tri-Nations title defense by crossing for three tries in the first half and four in the second. For Italy, Mirco Bergamasco landed two first-half penalties and winger Michele Sepe chased a David Gower grubber kick into the in-goal and was awarded a try in the right corner in the 65th minute. All Blacks unbeaten Daniel Carter slotted 17 points with his boot as the All Blacks extended their unbeaten run against Wales to 23 games with a 29-10 victory at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton Saturday. Record win for Pumas Argentina achieved its best-ever win over France Saturday, outplaying the Six Nations Grand Slam champion 41-13 at Buenos Aires. The Pumas scored four tries to one with fly-half Felipe Contepomi scoring two of those and adding three conversions and five penalties for a personal haul of 31 points. It was a welcome return to winning ways for the South Americans, who lost both Test matches to Scotland at home earlier this month. For France it brought the curtain down on a miserable mini summer tour having been trounced 42-17 by world champions South Africa in Cape Town.
