In response to the great interest in its photographic display of Haj pilgrims in Makkah, the Bab Al-Bont Museum in Jeddah has extended the exhibition until June 11. The display gathers a rare collection of 100-year-old photographs of Makkah taken by Muhammad Al-Hussaini during the Haj season of 1908. “We've had great interest from individual visitors and also from educational institutions who want to bring along their staff and students,” a museum official said. The exhibition, which was launched by Jeddah Governor Prince Misha'l Bin Majed, has been organized by the museum's Heritage Institution. Prince Misha'l thanked the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (IDEO), Cairo, for its “fruitful cooperation” in helping to organize the event. He said that the collection of rare Haj photographs was a “window to acquaint the world with our culture”.
