A woman accused of throwing chemicals into the face of her husband's infant daughter by his first wife has been sentenced to three years in prison and 300 lashes of the whip. The District Court made the ruling on Tuesday following public action against the defendant brought after the woman's husband dropped private charges. The man's first wife said she was satisfied with the ruling, although her daughter Anwar still suffers from the incident. Saudi Gazette reported in February that a 29-year-old woman had been detained on charges of throwing bleach on Anwar after Al-Jafar Police were informed by an Al-Ahsa hospital that a six-month-old child had been admitted with burns to the face.
