Every Muslim is deeply hurt and saddened by the mockery of the noblest and the best of mankind – the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (peace be upon him). For nations heading towards largely atheistic attitudes on religion and degrading moral values – mockery of God and His Messengers has hardly any significance. The lowly conception of Allah prevalent in secular societies is a direct result of the evil opinion they have about Allah and their assigning to Him attributes that do not suite His Glory. They dare to disrespect Him because they do not believe in Him and are arrogant against Him, even though He is the Creator and the Lord of the Universe. “They made not a just estimate of Allah such as is due to Him.” (Qur'an, 39:67) “Consider not that Allah is unaware of that which the wrongdoers do, but He gives them respite up to a Day when the eyes will stare in horror.” (Qur'an, 14:42) “Indeed (many) Messengers were mocked at before you (O Muhammad, peace be upon him), but I (Allah) granted respite to those who disbelieved, and finally I punished them. Then how (terrible) was My Punishment!” (Qur'an, 13:32) Sheikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said in Sarim Al-Maslool Ala Shatim Ar-Rasool: It is from the Sunnah of Allah that when the Muslims are unable to punish those who (seek to) harm Allah and His Messenger (by means of insults and abuse), Allah (Himself) revenges from him on behalf of His Messenger and He is sufficient, as Allah says: “Therefore, proclaim openly (Allah's Message of Tawheed) that which you are commanded, and turn away from the polytheists. Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers (those who mock the Messenger).” (Qur'an, 15:94-95) The incidents of how Allah destroyed the mockers are well-known. Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) corresponded with Qisrah (Chosroes, the Emperor of Persia) and Caesar, the King of Rome – both of them did not accept Islam – but Caesar treated the letter of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) with respect, and showed honor for the Prophet – so his kingdom stood firm. It is said, “The king is alive in his descendants until today.” Qisrah (the Persian Emperor) tore the letter to shreds and mocked the Prophet, so Allah caused him to meet his death very shortly and his kingdom was torn apart into pieces and there was no kingdom left for his descendants and this – Allah knows best – is the realization of His Saying, “For he who makes you angry (O Muhammad, peace be upon him), he will be cut off (from every good thing in this world and in the Hereafter).” (Qur'an, 108:3) So, anybody who angers Him or wages enmity with Him, Allah annihilates him from his origin, eradicates his repute. Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said that Allah said, “I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of Mine.” (Al-Bukhari, 8/509) So, how about someone who provokes hostility against his Messengers? He, who fights Allah is ruined.
