Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, the Emir of Riyadh Region, chaired here Sunday night a meeting of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh, which is currently overseeing hundreds of projects costing billions. Speaking on the occasion, Prince Salman thanked Allah Almighty for enabling Saudi officials to implement projects and extend services to citizens in various governorates and villages. Eng. Abdel-Latif Aal Al-Sheikh, the President of the Center of Projects and Planning at the High Commission, said there are 2,699 projects under way at a total cost of more than SR247 billion. Projects are under way in education, health, water, electricity, roads, public transport, housing, industrial cities, recreation, culture and the environment. More than 38 governmental and non-governmental authorities will participate in the implementation of these projects. He said infrastructure projects in Riyadh account for more than SR59 billion; educational projects at SR56 billion and economic development projects at about SR36 billion. He said road and public transport projects involve an expenditure of SR21 billion; housing projects at more than SR20 billion, health services projects at SR9 billion; real estate development projects at more than SR6 billion; public service projects at SR3.5 billion; industrial projects about SR2.7 billion, while other projects account for SR3.7 billion. Those who attended the meeting include Prince Sattam Bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Governor of Riyadh region, delegates of the Council of Riyadh Province; Governors of Riyadh Province's Governorates, the Municipal Council, and Presidents of the Province's Municipalities, Board of Directors of Riyadh's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, officials, businessmen and media representatives.
