ABDULLAH donates SR1 billion for new medical city MANAMA – King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, arrived here Sunday on a two-day historic visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. At Sakhir Airbase, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was received by King Hamad Bin Isa Aal-Khalifa of Bahrain. The King delivered a speech in which he highlighted the close relations between the two countries. He said his visit “says to others that we are one homeland and one people in good and bad times”. The King also ordered the building of a SR1 billion medical city affiliated to the Arab Gulf University in Bahrain as a gift from the Saudi people to the people of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. This was revealed to Saudi Press Agency by the president of the university, Dr. Khalid Bin Abdulrahman Alo'ohali, who said that the university named the medical city the “King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Medical City”. Later, the two Kings held bilateral talks on a number of issues at Al-Skhair Palace. King Abdullah was also received by Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Aal Khalifa, the Prime Minister; Prince Salman Bin Hamad Aal-Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander; Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of the Eastern Region; a number of princes; Saudi Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdulmohsen Bin Fahd Al-Mark; and Bahraini Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Salih Al-Sheikh Ali. Also present at the event was the President of the Shoura Council; the Speaker of the House of Representatives; a number of ministers; Qatari Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Sheikh Abdullah Bin Thamer Al-Thani; senior officers of the Defense Force, Ministry of Interior and National Guard; and members of the Saudi Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain. A dinner was held in honor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques which was attended by Saudi and Bahraini senior officials. He will stay at Al-Bustan Palace during his visit to Bahrain. King receives grandfather's 140-year-old sword King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has been given the 140-year-old sword of his grandfather Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Al-Saud as a gift by the King of Bahrain Hamad Bin Isa Aal-Khalifa on his arrival in the city on an official visit. “On this occasion, and on behalf of Aal-Khalifa family, we are pleased and honored to present you with the ‘Al-Ajrab Sword' which is the sword of your great grandfather Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Al-Saud. We have had the honor to keep the sword for almost 140 years since it was sent by Imam Saud Bin Faisal Al-Saud to Sheikh Isa Bin Ali Aal-Khalifa,” King Hamad said. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques thanked the King for the sword and said: “The sword of Imam Turki, the founder of the Second Saudi State, which today you are presenting to your brother with its historical symbolism for us and for you, expresses the good values and ethics which protected and honored him when he came to his other homeland, Bahrain...” King Hamad also decorated King Abdullah with the Order of Sheikh Isa Bin Salman in recognition of his “significant contributions to Arab and Islamic causes”. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques also decorated King Hamad with the Medal of King Abdul Aziz.
