Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Monday thanked King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for decorating him with the King Abdul Aziz Medal. King Abdullah decorated President Talabani with the medal Sunday evening. Dr. Ghanim Alwan Al-Jamaily, Iraqi Ambassador to the Kingdom, said President Talbani told him that King Abdullah surprised him by decorating him with the medal. “I could not describe my feeling at the King's generous gesture. It really pleased me. I will continue to remember this gesture. I do thank King Abdullah for this decoration. I don't know how to repay this gratitude. We appreciate King Abdullah's sincere feelings of brotherhood and fraternity, ” Ambassador Al-Jamaily quoted President Talabani as telling him. Ambassador Al-Jamaily said in a statement that President Talabani's visit and his meeting with the King came at a crucial time as it coincided with the important political developments being witnessed by Iraq. The picture, he said, was very clear that the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques wants all Iraqis to unite. And the Kingdom is strongly supporting these efforts. “It is really working for the good of Iraq and Iraqis and the Kingdom will support whatever Iraqis agree upon,” the ambassador added.
