Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, opened Saturday the Second International Islamic Fiqh (Jurisprudence) Conference entitled “Modern Medical Issues” at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh. In his speech Prince Naif said the three-day conference was important because it highlighted medical issues which were crucial for society. He said that Islamic Shariah applies to all times and places, but that there has been deviation from this lately. “These days we have noticed some excessiveness in the medical field which is not governed by Shariah,” he said. It was, therefore, important for Muslim scholars and medical doctors to come up with rules and measures to serve as guidelines for the profession. He hoped the conference will produce appropriate solutions to modern medical issues. Prince Naif also inaugurated a number of educational projects worth SR1.6 billion at the university. He opened the conference on behalf of Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz.
