Princess Adela Bint Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, chairwoman of the Sanad Children's Cancer Charity, has appealed to officials and the health sector to set up a special center for post-treatment care for children. Speaking at the launch of a conference on children in convalescence from cancer on Tuesday, the Princess said a dedicated post-treatment center would enable children to be given the attention required for physical and mental stress resulting from chemotherapy. The conference was organized in cooperation with King Abdulaziz Hospital in Jeddah, and Sanad Children's Cancer Society. “This is becoming increasingly important with the rise in the number of cured cases, a number running into the tens of thousands,” Princess Adela said. “A dedicated unit would represent a significant improvement to advanced health services, but would only be feasible with the proper collaboration and efforts of the relevant child care organizations.”
