Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, wife of the Emir of Qatar, said that human development and science research are important educational objectives of both Saudi Arabia and Qatar. She added that Gulf women must use their ability for innovation to work for the improvement of society. Sheikha Mozah, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Development, made these statements during her visit to Effat University here Tuesday, where she was received by Princess Lulua Al-Faisal, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and General Supervisor of the university. Science research has become an important part of the educational culture in Qatar, Sheikha Mozah said, pointing out that the government has set aside 2.8 percent of the educational budget for it. She expressed her delight in the recent discussions that she had with King Abdullah regarding science research in which he expressed his belief that it is a basic necessity for the development of education. She said that she hoped that Saudi Arabia and Qatar would exchange their experience in this area. Highlighting the experience of Qatar in education, Sheikha Mozah spoke of the keys of success and failure. “Taking quick decisions even though there may be some mistakes is better than nothing because we have a great desire to develop as fast as we can,” she said. “We brought the branches of world-class universities to Qatar so that we could benefit from their experience. Unfortunately, some of these have failed because we suffer here in the Arab world from an excess of individuality which emphasizes personal effort rather than team work,” she explained. Sheikha Mozah stressed the importance of the Arabic language in forming a great Gulf and Saudi society. “King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz in establishing an Arabic Language Center has proved that the Kingdom is still holding on to its culture by using the Arabic language in all sectors,” said Sheikha Mozah.
