Abd Al-'Aal, head of the Women's Cultural Committee at the 25th Janadriya Festival for Heritage and Culture, described the event Saturday as “greatly contributing to the advancement of Saudi women and their academic and intellectual creativity, and promoting the culture of dialogue and knowledge”. Speaking at the launch of events for women at the festival in the presence of Princess Hissa Bin Tarad Al-Sha'alan, Al-'Aal said that the Princess along with Princess Nouf Bint Abdul Aziz had had a great effect in promoting and improving the activities, and in raising the level of diversity. “They have helped bring in Saudi women writers and thinkers which has helped to advance numerous fields,” Al-'Aal said. Of the women's activities at this year's festival, Al-'Aal cited “lectures and symposiums” as well as a health symposium entitled “Obesity: The Illness of the Age”. Other symposiums include one entitled “The Saudi Family in the Age of Openness” which will hold three sessions looking at the issue from the “religious, social and economic aspects”.
