The Jeddah Tamil Mandram (JTM) group was officially launched during an event at the Indian Consulate premises recently. Hundreds of people were in attendance and the audience was addressed by Prof. Dr. Periyardhasan, Professor of Psychology and a psychotherapist. The gathering included consulate officials, chief executives of various Indian and Saudi organizations and members of the Tamil community. In his speech, Dr. Periyardhasan emphasized the need for avoiding hatred, learning methods for children and the importance of keeping love in the forefront of all activities. He also gave useful tips on leading a harmonious life amid the tensions and stressful environment of today's world. The function started with Pandian delivering the welcome address. Amir Basha, the event coordinator, presented a bouquet to Prof. Dr. Periyardhasan, while Moosa introduced the renowned orator to the audience. Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Periyardhasan inaugurated the JTM during the event by unveiling the JTM banner amidst a huge round of applause. Gopal Veda gave an introduction of the JTM and Basha delivered a speech explaining the vision and mission of the JTM. The group's executive committee members were introduced to the gathering. This was followed by a comedy show performed by Muralidaran and Vijayendran. A magic show ‘Surathi's Miracles' by young performers Shahida, Shahin and Shahinda was of special interest to the children in the audience. There was also a cultural dance performed by community children and a poem recital by Mohamed Ibrahim Maricar. Basha presented a plaque to Dr. Periyardhasan on behalf of the JTM and in turn Dr. Periyardhasan also presented a plaque of appreciation to Basha. A drawing competition for children was organized by Ravimenon and coordinated by Sudha Jaishankar, Aasha Ramachandran and Padmapriya Kumareshbabu. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners. Jaffer Sadik proposed the vote of thanks. The program was compeered by Banu Hameed and was ceremoniously closed by playing the Indian national anthem. The function was well-received and appreciated by the Tamil community. __
