The prime suspect in a supposed gang rape and killing of a 16-year-old student in Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte province was arrested last Sunday evening, a belated report from the CARAGA Police Regional Information Office said Tuesday. The report said police nabbed Mark Nestea Vertido Cosicol, 19, in his house in the city's Barangay Kauswagan. Cosicol admitted to the crime, the report said, but it did not indicate whether the suspect did so with an aide of a lawyer. It also did not say whether the suspect had companions in committing the crime. Earlier, Tubay town police suspected the victim was gang raped before she was killed. Residents found the body of the victim in a secluded nipa plantation in Barangay Cabayawa in Tubay town around 1 P.M. on March 13. Investigation showed that on March 12, around 2 P.M., the victim was with her classmates at a Videoke Bar in Cabadbaran City. Shortly after, the group disbanded and the gril was seen on board a tricycle with Cosicol. It was the last time shewas found. alive.
