Mumbai, Delhi win tense matches
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 14 - 03 - 2010

Mumbai Indians, despite scoring a solid 212-6, had to survive many anxious moments before prevailing by just 4 runs as Rajasthan Royal's Yusuf Pathan threatened the hosts with a brutal 37-ball ton here Saturday.
Ambati Rayudu had earlier combined with Jharkhand youngster Saurabh Tiwary to help Mumbai Indians to a target that just about survived the Yusuf fireworks.
Bombay was lucky to run out Yusuf who had just completed century.
It took special death bowling from Zaheer Khan and Lasith Malinga in the end to deny Rajasthan 19 runs in the last two overs.
Scores: Mumbai Indians 212 for 6 (Rayudu 55, Tiwary 53, Mascarenhas 2-34). Rajasthan Royals 208 for 7 (Yusuf 100, Dogra 41, Malinga 2-22).
In the second match at Mohali, skipper Gautam Gambhir steered Delhi Daredevils to another thrilling last over win.
Gambhir held firm after the early departure of big hitters Virender Sehwag and Tillekeratne Dilshan in company of Dinesh Karthik and young Minhas.
The double blow by S. Sreesanth had given hopes for hosts Kings Punjab Eleven to defend 146 which was built around Ravi Bopara's 56.
It was thanks to disconcerting bowling from Dirk Nannes and timely big wickets for Farveez Maharoof that Delhi were chasing a paltry total.
Scores: Delhi Daredevils 146 for 5 (Gambhir 72, Manhas 30*, Sreesanth 2-24). Kings XI Punjab 142 for 9 (Bopara 56, Nannes 2-12, Maharoof 2-37).
