profit organization has launched an e-club to revive and organize the culture of volunteerism in the Kingdom. Labbeah (Here I am) lists all people interested in volunteer work and their experiences and expertise across the Kingdom, to help provide volunteers when needed. The volunteer e-club is the brainchild of Princess Nora Bint Abdullah Bin Muhammad Al-Saud. The club has come to life to disseminate the culture of volunteerism and social work in the Kingdom and to strengthen the humanitarian role between individuals and society, she said. The project aims to sign up 15,000 volunteers and come up with 15,000 new ideas to help volunteer and social work in the Kingdom by 2015, she said. The name Labbeah has a religious, cultural, and social dimension which would attract more volunteers to respond to the call. Labbeah is a vernacular Arabic word used to respond to someone's call for help. Hadeel Bouqari, general supervisor of the e-club, said that their objective was not collecting donations but rather ensuring all volunteers, either individuals or organizations, are listed on a comprehensive volunteer database in the Kingdom. The club will provide services as needed after studying cases and finding suitable volunteers for the job, she said. The culture of volunteerism in the Kingdom has started to emerge as organized work, especially after the November floods in Jeddah. The e-club can be found at www.labbeah.com.
