Ammas Cricket Club beat Trico Cricket Club in a nail-biting finish to win the first Arab Lanka Independence Trophy T10 Cricket Tournament, which was held at WPCA grounds here. The event was organized by Arab Lanka Restaurant in coordination with the Sri Lankan Consulate to mark the 62nd National Day of Sri Lanka. A. Sabarullah Khan, Consul General of Sri Lanka, graced the occasion and gave away the awards. Top 12 Sri Lankan teams, based in Jeddah, participated in this 10-over tournament. While congratulating the winners the Consul General thanked Mohamed Basith of Arab Lanka Restaurant for organizing such an event. He also lauded the organizing committee for a job well done. The highlight of the event was an exhibition match between students of Sri Lankan International School Jeddah (SLISJ) and the organizers, which was won by the former convincingly. Project Chairman Faisal Shajahan said that the main objective of organizing this event was to provide an opportunity for Jeddah-based Sri Lankan cricketers to get together and to display their cricketing skills.
