Inspectors from the capital's Mayor's Office detained from mid-December to mid-January 618 persons working as street sellers in public areas of the capital. Officials said that the number, who were of various nationalities, were found to be in breach of residency and labor laws. Also arrested were seven non-Saudi women working in markets and streets. “The mayoralty is making continual efforts to monitor non-Saudi women selling wares in markets or residential districts,” an official said.
