The Saudi Development Fund (SDF)has initiated a study on financing new viable developmental projects in Pakistan and sent its delegations to the country for the progress, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported on Wednesday quoting a Saudi embassy statement. “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is always keen to extend all avenues of help and assistance to the brotherly Islamic Republic of Pakistan in various fields,” the statement said. The Saudi government donated $133 million for the reconstruction of quake-affected regions, construction of government buildings, official residences, health units, educational amenities, rehabilitation of a college, hospital and construction of a university in Azad Kashmir. The construction of a SR27 million hospital in Mansehra City, a SR195 million university in Muzaffarabad, SR82 million government complex in Rawalakot, and a hospital and Ayub Medical College costing SR30 million, aside from a number of male and female colleges in different regions as well as construction of 14 health units and centers at a cost of SR8 million were finalized, it said. Moreover, the Saudi Public Assistance Committee donated $120 million for the construction of 8,000 residential units, 4,000 of which are handed over to the beneficiaries.
