Spurs outplay Lakers at home
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 14 - 01 - 2010

Tim Duncan had 25 points and 13 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs showed they can still hang with their Western Conference rivals in a 105-85 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday.
Tony Parker scored 22 as the Spurs got their biggest victory this season.
Kobe Bryant had another off game, scoring 16 points. He again wore a thick splint over his broken right index finger and did not play in the fourth quarter because of back spasms. Lakers coach Phil Jackson said Bryant was probable for Wednesday's game in Dallas.
Andrew Bynum scored 23 points and Ron Artest had 13 for the Lakers, who have lost three of four.
Grizzlies 104, Clippers 102: At Memphis, Tennessee, Rudy Gay and Marc Gasol each scored 24 points and Zach Randolph added 20 as Memphis snapped Los Angeles' four-game winning streak.
The Grizzlies overcame Baron Davis' triple-double, an 18-point deficit and a 36-minute delay caused by a water line break in the fire sprinkler system at FedExForum for their sixth straight home win.
Davis had 27 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists for the Clippers, who played without starting center Chris Kaman because of a back injury. Starting forward Marcus Camby missed the second half with a stomach virus.
Kaman's replacement, DeAndre Jordan, had a season-high 23 points.
Pistons 99, Wizards 90: At Washington, Charlie Villanueva had 23 points and nine rebounds as Detroit ended a 13-game losing streak by beating Washington.
Richard Hamilton and Rodney Stuckey each scored 19 for the Pistons, who hadn't enjoyed a victory in a month: They beat Golden State on Dec. 12.
Detroit lost by 33 points at Chicago on Monday night, and a defeat against Washington would have tied the longest single-season losing streak in franchise history.
Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with 31 points and 10 rebounds, while Randy Foye – who took over at point guard when Gilbert Arenas was suspended indefinitely by the NBA – had 20 points and 10 assists.
Bobcats 102, Rockets 94: At Charlotte, North Carolina, Stephen Jackson scored 16 of his career-high 43 points in the fourth quarter as Charlotte clamped down on defense after halftime to rally past Houston.
Surpassing his previous best scoring night of 42 set nearly six years ago with Atlanta, Jackson shot 15 of 22 and made 10-of-11 free throws while adding eight rebounds.
Making up for a subpar night from Gerald Wallace, Jackson keyed Charlotte's comeback from a 13-point, second-quarter deficit.
Boris Diaw added 19 points and seven rebounds, including the clinching three-point play with 50 seconds left.
Trevor Ariza scored 19 points and Luis Scola added 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Rockets, who had won seven straight against Charlotte.
Magic 109, Kings 88: At Sacramento, California, Dwight Howard had 30 points and 16 rebounds as Orlando used a big run to open the fourth quarter and beat Sacramento.
