The American University of Beirut has selected Abdul Aziz Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information, as its “Man of 2009”. Minister Khoja met with officials from the university at his office on Tuesday and received an invitation from the university's Graduates' Society to the awards ceremony to be held on Feb. 12. “The award has come in recognition of Minister Khoja's work during his time as Saudi Ambassador in Lebanon,” said Sami Ilmaddeen, a member of the university delegation. “He is well thought of by all Lebanese people, as he played a particularly prominent role during what was a difficult period for Lebanon.” Ilmaddeen added that the group from the American University of Beirut was also in the Kingdom to “strengthen academic relations with the Kingdom's universities, particularly King Abdullah University for Science and Technology and Princess Noura University”.
