Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has signed an agreement with Arabian Bemco on the extension project of the existing Al-Qassim Power Plant on Tuesday. The agreement would increase the plant capacity to 224 MW by adding 4 gas turbines on a super rush basis. The project is valued at SR1.0 billion. Henry M. Sarkissian, CEO of Arabian Bemco and Ali S. Al-Barrak, CEO & President of Saudi Electricity Company, signed the accord. The super rush program will be completed by June 2010. Arabian Bemco has long experience in fast track projects where they have executed Power Plant No. 9 Block-E project (480MW) for SEC in a record time of 7½ months in 2004 to meet the power requirements of SEC customers in Riyadh.
