Saudi Arabia (PPP-KSA) and PPP-Riyadh Region in a function last week observed the second death anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in Riyadh. The program was attended by a large number of Pakistani community members in Riyadh and its adjoining regions. Chief guest Mohammad Naim Moghal in his speech described the PPP was a “party of martyrs”. “It is the only party whose four top leaders lay dead in the tombs of Garhi Khuda Bakhsh,” he said. Abdul Karim Khan, PPP-KSA senior vice president, in his speech paid glowing tributes to Bhutto. He said the tri-color – red-black-green – in the PPP flag has a special significance. According to him, the red color symbolizes the sacrifices of the PPP leaders and its workers, the black color symbolizes the rule of the dictators who grab power when the PPP government is able to bring peace and prosperity to Pakistan, and the green color symbolizes the empowerment of the people of Pakistan. Malik Faqir Mohammad Awan, PPP-Riyadh Region president, in his speech thanked King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for the “hospitality that the expatriates receive from the local government in hosting such programs.” Others who spoke on the occasion included: Mohammad Asghar Qureshi, Faiz Al-Najdi, Malik Bilawal Shafiq, Choudhry Riaz, Sardar Sher Afzal, Mahmud Bajwa, Sher Bahadur Aftab, Riaz Rathore, Rana Khalid Akram, Shamshad Siddiqui, and Asghar Chishti. Dr. Abdul Qayyum Soomro, political adviser to the President of Pakistan, also addressed the gathering via telephone.
