Efforts to bring Palestinian factions together through the Egyptian-led reconciliation agreement continue in Riyadh today with the arrival of Amr Moussa, Secretary General of the Arab League, for talks with the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Saud Al-Faisal. According to Hisham Yousef, head of the Secretary General's Office, Moussa is scheduled to discuss with Prince Saud the latter's recent visits to Cairo and Damascus and efforts to formulate a clear stance on the reconciliation process. The Palestinian Fatah movement called on Hamas Sunday for “action to back up words” and sign the reconciliation agreement in Cairo in accordance with the Egyptian document “without conditions.” Hamas leader Khaled Mish'al had earlier said he was prepared to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at “any time and place” to sign the reconciliation agreement, but added that Hamas had a “few main observations” on the Egyptian reconciliation document which he hoped would “be taken into consideration.” Senior Fatah official Abdullah Abdullah responded by saying that reconciliation efforts had “reached a dead end” due to Hamas's refusal to sign the document “in its current form.” “Fatah has and still does support the Egyptian document and is prepared to sign the reconciliation agreement in Cairo,” Abdullah said. “The movement has agreed to the document and handed it in to Cairo, and the ball is now in Hamas's court if they wish to ensure reconciliation.” Abdullah urged Hamas not to “waste time” and to “sign the document and end division.”
