Saudi fighter aircraft and ground artillery bombarded the village of Al-Jaberi on Sunday after the deadline passed for infiltrators shored up in abandoned houses to surrender to authorities. Sources said “numerous” infiltrators were killed in the attacks on the south Jizan settlement. The 48-hour “surrender or face death” warning from the Ministry of Defense and Aviation was announced at the end of last week by Prince Khaled Bin Sultan, Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation, when he also stated that that “all major military operations on the border are over.” Prince Khaled said that “only individual efforts carried out by sole infiltrators remain, and they are dealt with immediately”. The Prince issued a stern warning for the undisclosed number of infiltrators in Al-Jaberi. “The village will be destroyed over their heads if they do not surrender in 48 hours,” he said, adding that “Saudi forces do not wish to see any unnecessary bloodshed on either side”. Prince Khaled called on the infiltrators to “have faith in Allah” and “return to their country.”
