The Committee for Coordination of Social Action and Charity, launched by the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) with the participation of a large number of charities and civil society institutions, Thursday launched a website www.forjeddah.org. The website aims to attract volunteers to help the areas hit by floods in Jeddah. Ibrahim Ahmed Al-Asiri, chairman of the committee's information center, said the website would help in contributing to a culture of volunteerism in the community and urged people to contribute to charitable works in an orderly manner. Volunteers have also been urged to support the government and social institutions in bridging the gap of services for the community and open new horizons in the field of voluntary work. Al-Asiri also said that the coordinating committee, under Mazen Batarji, Deputy Chairman of the JCCI, in its first meeting approved the establishment of an information center for those affected by the flood. “We are already in the process of preparing an organizational structure of the working group which has been processing the information center to consolidate our hotline number (920002285). This can simultaneously receive 15 calls,” he said. “A database had been prepared during the past few days. It includes information on those affected by the flood, volunteers, donors and the charities,” he added . Al-Asiri praised the great efforts exerted by the working group, consisting of 46 young men and women who have dedicated themselves to the relief work since the calamity struck Jeddah last month.
