A water resource and technology center will be established at the Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Center for Science and Technology (Scitech), according to Dr. Faleh Al-Sulaiman, Director of Scitech. This will increase the number of learning centers for educational institutions and the public to visit and view, Al-Sulaiman said “The new center, Water Resource and Technology Hall, aims to emphasize the value of water to human life and spread the culture of water and energy conservation through exhibits, workshops, and scientific presentations,” Al-Sulaiman said. Scitech currently has five halls, namely, Earth and Space, Living Wonders, Our Beautiful Seas, Amazing Technology, and Discovery Oasis. The Water Resource and Technology Hall will be the sixth. Scitech has been the venue of important events in the Eastern Province, among them the national competition for the preparation of business plans of small enterprises, the national program for driving prevention, the National Festival of Science and Technology, workshops and festivals sponsored by nongovernmental organizations, scientific and technical lectures, and training courses. The main objective of Scitech is to educate the community, specifically the younger generation, and expose them to the basics and applications of science. The scientific exhibits are explained and demonstrated by means of easy-to-understand, interactive techniques. Scitech has more than 350 scientific displays, as well as a scientific dome equipped with an IMAX Theater. The center was established six years ago with the aim of widening the scientific and cultural horizon of visitors by simplifying scientific ideas and subjects and making them interesting and enjoyable.
