Proposals have been approved to create a center for nuclear research at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah. The university's Deputy President for Educational Affairs Abdul Rahman Al-Youbi said the approval for the center, which will be named the “King Abdullah Center for Nuclear Research for Peaceful Purposes”, came from the university's Board of Directors during a meeting on Wednesday. “The center will focus on research into nuclear energy for peaceful and civilian purposes,” Al-Youbi said. The meeting, chaired by university president Osama Tayyib on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education, also approved the establishment of an Arabic Language Institute for non-Arabic Speakers, a Masters course at the Department of Architecture, and a Masters in Translation.
