The Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Omar Khan Sherzai, during an inspection tour of the Pakistan Embassy School in Azizya Monday reinstated the school's principal, dissolved the schools elected managing committee, and warned teachers not to indulge in politics. The principal Muhammad Siddiqui had been relieved of his duties in April, 2008 by the former Pakistani Ambassador Shahid Karimullah upon the recommendation of the committee managing school affairs. Upon the committee's request, Karimullah wrote to the Ministry of Education of Saudi Arabia requesting that Siddiqui's services be terminated. However, after due enquiry, Sherzai found that the committee had involved itself in politics which resulted in injustice. He therefore, restored the services of the former principal and dissolved the managing committee. Salma Khan, the principal of the girl's section, had retired before this year's summer vacation. But in consideration of her excellent service to the school, Sherzai extended her term. Addressing the school's teachers, the ambassador told them that indulgence in politics would not be tolerated and that those who intend to participate in politics in any way should tender their resignations. He told the teachers that education is a very important stage in building the character of students and determining their future and that an educated generation builds the country and strengthens it. “I am here representing the country and a deputy of the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister. I do not have any connection with any political party. The Pakistani community is my party over here. I want you all to work sincerely and raise the respect of your country in the comity of nations. If any one has any problem, he can contact me directly,” he said. Later Sherzai inspected the Pakistan International School (English Section) at Rehab. He expressed his appreciation for the standard of education achieved by that school through the work of its principal Sahar Kamaran.
