The Saudi Electronics and Home Appliances Institute (SEHAI) opened on Sept. 26 in Riyadh. SEHAI is a technical training institute specializing in electronics and home appliances that was established under the framework of Japan - Saudi Arabia Joint Task Force. SEHAI receives cooperation primarily from Saudi distributors of Japanese electronics products, Nippon Engineering College of Japan, Japanese electronics and home appliances manufactures and Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East (JCCME) and is also supported by the two countries' governments. 110 high school graduates out of 350 applicants of 18 - 21 years of age have been selected to join in the 2-year technical college to be taught by 10 instructors from Philippines and India who were trained in Japan on 4 courses - electronics, air conditioner, home appliances and computer/office equipment. The instructors get support from the 3 Japanese specialists. The students of the college are from the Saudi distributing companies of electronics products, who will then start their job careers in these companies after graduation.
