Starting with convincing handicapped combination of 1,160 from individual hits of 548 and 612, the tandem of May Lourdes and Jimmy Mandingiado placed second on the opening day of the Fun Linggo Mix Doubles at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.
Hobbled by lane problem-solving difficulties Lourdes and Mandingiado slid to fourth position with 2,243 running total including their 1,083 which ranked them eighth in the second session. A 1,208 superb joined efforts with Lourdes scratching 200 on her 586 total and Mandingiado searing 622 moved them to third place with 3,451 running total in week 3. They then emerged lucky on the last session wherein the other campaigners had faltering games and their eighth placing of 1088 for the fourth week made Lourdes and Mandingiado the champion with 4,539 combined total pinfalls with handicap in this first Fun Linggo Mix Doubles.
The pair of Puri Parena and Rudy Punzalan was fourth with 1,110 on the opening day then slithered to sixth on another lowly combination of 1,107 for running total of 2,217 the following week. A better blend of 1,179 reinstated Parena and Punzalan to the fourth place contending with 3,396 running total. An all-out offense in the last week almost gained them the championship wherein Parena scratched 202 and Punzalan had 215 in the last game. Such stupendous chase placed Parena-Punzalan duo in second with just 5 pins away from the champion at 4,534.
Initialing the contest with 1,151 the underdog pair of Adnim Guevarra and Mart Lising was third on Day 1 and then climbed to second on an 1,170 pinch totaling 2,321 after session 2. Computing 3,468 on 1,147 sustenance in week 3 the Guevarra-Lising tandem settled for third position when their effort of 1,046 for a 4,514 finish appeared insufficient to contend higher post.
Vangie Lim and Toto Lim reined the tournament in the first three sessions with games of 1,202, 1,196 and 1,077 totaling 3,475 till week 3. But their diminishing game pattern disabled them to sustain supremacy as their 1,009 combined talents in the last week placed them to fourth with 4,484 total pinfalls accumulation.
Susan Patayan and Priz Calidro started 10th place with 1,072 but enabled to clinch the last berth on their humpy subsequent combined games of 1,156, 1,036 and 1,134 for fifth place settlement of 4,398.
