A parade by more than 20 teams will kick off an outdoor basketball event organized by the Filipino Basketball Association (FBA) at 5 P.M. at the Saudi Hi-Tech Compound here Friday. The 28th FBA tournament is being organized at an outdoor venue after almost a decade where families are welcome to watch the games every Thursday and Friday. This FBA home court was secured by FBA commissioner Abel Chavenia and the late FBA president Gil Manese after an agreement with Hamza of Hi-Tech in cooperation with executives from the Hi-Tech management Rudy and Janno Ruaya. More than 20 teams will parade in three divisions; Bona fide A, Bona fide B and Inter-Commercial Open C divisions. The opening day is slated to begin with a colorful parade of teams followed by a short and simple opening program to be attended by respected officials of the Philippines Consulate, Filipino community leaders and representatives of participating companies and sponsors of the tournament. The participants: Al-Kaki Aluminum & Glass Factory, Al-Tamayuz, Al-Shaya Trading International, Hanco Maintenance A&B, Rosewood Corniche Hotel, Sarco Shoaiba A&B, Saudi Hi-Tech, Strikers, Arabian International Co.(AIC), Gulf Express (APSL), Sharbatly Corporation, Toyota-ALJ, Petro Rabigh, Al-Salam Hospital, Samir Group-Kodak, Makati Products, King Fahad Armed Forces Hosp. (KFAFH)-Shawly, Jeddah Kickers, Dabarkads and Solid North. Special gift items, including a 32-inch LCD TV set, will be distributed among the lucky spectators.
