The Civil Rights Department (CRD) has called for a designated shelter for housemaids who have fled their sponsors as an alternative to prison. The CRD said at a workshop in Al-Jouf Province that housemaids should not be jailed but instead accommodated at a specialized center if they run away from sponsors or reject their work for other reasons. Further proposals included conducting arrests of persons wanted in financial rights cases at nighttime and days off, rather than restricting it to daytime in the working week, with the CRD citing instances where persons have evaded the system by working night shifts and remaining at home during daylight hours.
