King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is now seeking applications for admission from students interested in postgraduate studies for the academic year 2009/2010. It asked students to submit their applications through the university website http://www.kaust.edu.sa. The university said admission would be restricted to 11 specializations such as applied mathematics, computer sciences, biological sciences, chemical and biological engineering, chemical sciences, earth sciences and engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, marine sciences and engineering, material sciences and engineering and chemical engineering. It said applications for admission will be through the King Abdullah University Fellowship Program and the King Abdullah University discovery scholarship. The university academic session would begin on September 5 while the university would be officially inaugurated on September 23 coinciding with the 79th anniversary of the Saudi National Day. The university said it will be flexible in its study fields to attract highly qualified students so as to guarantee acceptance of its programs and their recognition as equal to those in prestigious universities all over the world. The research and education network in the university would contribute to supporting talents through research cooperation agreements and grants and scholarships programs for students.
