Hussayen, Minister of Water and Electricity, has announced funding of one billion riyals for maintenance on the Kingdom's water supply infrastructure and described the extent of the problem of water lost through leaks in the network. Al-Hussayen, speaking at a workshop in Riyadh on Tuesday, said the most recent report on the water network showed that leakage rates reached 20 percent for the Kingdom as a whole, with 90 percent of the leaks occurring in networks for private homes.According to Al-Hussayen, average water consumption in Riyadh was 330 liters per person. He added that all Riyadh districts would soon be connected to the sanitary drainage network.
