Major General Salim Bin Mohammed Albulaihed, Director General of Passports, on Tuesday night launched here a new electronic service provided by the General Directorate of Passports for the issuance of resident visas through SMS. Albulaihed pointed out that the service is one of the most advanced in e-government implementation which allows citizens and residents to process exit re-entry visas through SMS following pre-registration in the service of `Ishaar` at regional passport departments. The electronic service is for exit and re-entry visa, multiple visa, final exit visa, extended visa and visa cancellation for companies and institutions only and the application of other electronic services for individuals will be implemented in the near future, he added.
