A collaborative and unified program to pursue the beautification of cities in the Eastern Province, including the establishment of a permanent regional exhibition center that will showcase the cultural and social heritage of the region, has been agreed upon by the regional city council and Asharqia Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Adnan A. Al-Naeem, Secretary General of the Asharqia Chamber, said the plan to implement a joint beatification program was reached during a meeting of officials of Dammam Municipality and the chamber, and leading businessmen in the region. “The meeting has resulted in the agreement that a permanent regional beautification committee be formed to conduct feasibility studies and make recommendations,” Al-Naeem said. He said the idea of a beautification committee was to coordinate plans and their execution. “In the past, the beautification programs and projects were undertaken at various levels of the government and the private sector. This resulted in unsynchronized urban planning,” he said. The meeting was jointly chaired by Dammam Mayor Daifallah Al-Otaibi and Asharqia President Abdulrahman Rashed Al-Rashed. Also present were Faisal Al-Thaani, Director of Investment for the Eastern Region; Abdur-Rahman Al-Humayn, the Assistant Secretary General of Asharqia Chamber for Committee Affairs; and Sami Abu Sareeh, the Assistant Secretary General of Asharqia Chamber in charge of Public Relations and Information. Al-Naeem said that the permanent beautification committee for the Eastern Province will be composed of city officials and representatives from the private business sector. “The committee will meet soon to discuss strategic plans, including the framing of the goals, initiatives, and scope of the committee's activity,” he said.
