Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah rejected on Friday Egyptian accusations his militant Shiite group has recruited agents to carry out attacks in Egypt. Nasrallah's televised comments Friday come after Egypt's public prosecutor said Wednesday that Egypt had arrested 49 alleged Hezbollah agents, accusing them of planning “hostile operations” and “spreading Shiite ideology.” “I categorically deny that Hezbollah has any intention to carry out attacks against Egypt's security or target personalities or Egyptian interests,” Nasrallah said. He rejected accusations that Hezbollah was seeking to spread Shiite ideology in Egypt. Nasrallah said that Sami Shehab, a Lebanese man arrested in Egypt last year, is a Hezbollah member sent to help militant Palestinians more than a month before Israel's military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
