Dosari earned Al-Wehdah a 1-0 over Al-Ittifaq in their Saudi Primier League match at King Abdul Aziz Sports City in Makkah on Sunday. The win regained the seventh spot for Makkah side after being edged by Al-Hazm in last week encounter. The victory may revive Al-Wehdah hopes to enter King's Cup for Champions since the last eight teams in the league participate in two-leg knockout championship. Al-Ittifaq's morale was high after an important 2-1 victory over Sepahan of Iran in the AFC Champions League. Dammam based club almost took the lead after five minutes when Badr Al-Khamis's header was saved by Al-Wehdah goalkeeper Faisal Ba-Mehriz. Three minutes later, Al-Khamis made another threat but this time the close-range shot went wide. Al-Wehdah gained control in the remaining minutes but failed to score. Ten minutes after the break, Al-Dosari sent a curving shot from the edge of the box into the far left side of Al-Ittifaq goalkeeper. Al-Ittifaq retaliated with an all out attack but Al-Wehdah held firm to take three points home. In another match at Prince Sultan Sports City, Abdul Rahman Al-Bishi's late goal gave Al-Nasr a 2-2 draw against home side Abha. Riyan Bilal put Al-Nasr ahead after 26 minutes but Marjea Al-Yami equalized for Abha 15 minutes after the break. Nine minutes later, Mazen Al-Faraj put Abha ahead but Al-Bishi's 81st goal form the spot ended Abha hopes. Iran sacks Daei Ali Daei, the world's all-time highest international goalscorer, has been sacked as Iran coach after his team's 2-1 defeat by Saudi Arabia in World Cup qualifying, state media reported on Sunday. The hugely-popular Daei, a former Bayern Munich striker, was dismissed after his side let slip a 1-0 lead with 11 minutes remaining, the IRNA news agency reported, without giving details. The Saudis' win in Tehran gave it a World Cup lifeline but pushed the Iranians down to fourth place in Group B with six points from its five games played. With a top two finish and automatic qualification looking unlikely, three-time qualifier Iran now faces a dogfight to clinch a playoff berth. Daei only retired fully from playing last year and until now has coached Tehran club side Saipa, who he led to the Iranian league title as a player-coach. Daei scored a record 109 international goals in 148 appearances, outstripping greats like Pele and Ferenc Puskas. He played a part in Iran's greatest match – the 2-1 win over the United States at the World Cup in France 1998 - and was once named Asian Footballer of the Year. __
