Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah, on Sunday criticized delay in completion of some development projects in Al-Laith and Qunfudah. “There are 18 stalled projects while 20 others have been completed,” the Emir said in response to a question. Elaborating on the stalled projects, the Emir said some ministries and contractors allocated budgets for projects on the coast without studying the fact that construction cost in such locations differ from mountainous and desert areas. Prince Khaled criticized the delay in completion of vital projects including the dam of Al-Laith's valleys, water desalination station, and the Al-Laith Hospital. The Civil Aviation Authority, he said, has made it a priority to build an airport for residents of Makkah Province's southern coast. “The project is being studied and there are positive indications,” he added. “Development plans in the province will not succeed unless the society participates in them and that applies for the other government projects,” he said noting that officials at ministries cannot do it alone. Prince Khaled assured residents that Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz is in good health. He also promised them to deliver their feelings and regards to King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The Emir assured his utmost efforts to implement the King's wills concerning the progress of Makkah residents.
