day international education exhibition held at Ibn Khaldoon Plaza auditorium here ended on Friday. The exhibition, which brought together various international educational institutions, aimed to provide guidance for Saudis and expatriates who wish to go abroad for English language, medical, engineering and MBA studies. Information was provided about international colleges and universities, the content and duration of courses and payment structures. “There was a lot of interest in joining EF College in South Africa where courses are relatively inexpensive,” said Erik Jungneliusa, who was in charge of the EF College pavilion. “Many people inquired about English language courses, and Saudi women visited us to get more information about our degree and postgraduate courses,” he said. The education exhibition was conducted by international academic educational services in collaboration with several travel agencies. “We have had a good response from students, parents, women and expatriates who wish to study abroad to improve their English or to earn university degrees from international universities,” said Abdul Mohsen A. Al-Shurait, managing director of IntelAcademic. “We conduct such exhibitions on a regular basis and usually attract a large number of people who are interested in studying abroad. We get students from all walks of life, both male and female, and in fact our oldest student, is a 50-year-old Saudi woman who went to the US to study English. She is now well settled there and took her children with her so that they could study there as well,” he said. “Our exhibitions are usually set up in malls and other shopping centers where families gather, so that it is easily accessible for them,” Al-Shurait added. Even though not the largest of its kind, last weekend's exhibition had a good number of visitors, especially Saudi youth, who were looking for good packages and offers to enable them to continue their education abroad. “When we travel abroad for higher education or for language courses, we have to make sure that we are enrolled with an accredited and quality educator, and such exhibitions give us guidance and a good picture of several international institutions,” said one of the visitors, who is studying in a Saudi university and plans to travel abroad for higher education.
