The 8th meeting of the Saudi Society for Geosciences under the theme “Serving the Earth” will be held here at the Hilton from March 9 to 12 by the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) with the collaboration of the Ministry for Mineral Resources and King Abdulaziz University. The four-day event will be held under the patronage of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah Region, and will be inaugurated by Prince Misha'l Bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah. The meeting, which will be attended by a number of local and international scientists, will feature three specialized workshops, field trips and exhibitions of geological information, scientific developments and the latest techniques in earth science. More than 100 scientific abstracts will be presented at the conference. “The Kingdom has a very advanced system for the collection of geological data,” said Dr. Zohair A. H. Nawab, SGS president.
