The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) has raised the issue of Saudi detainee Humaidan Al-Turki with a delegation of senior US Congressmen currently visiting the Kingdom. In August 2006, a Colorado court handed down a verdict of 28 years imprisonment for Al-Turki for alleged forced labor and aggravated sexual harassment of his Indonesian housemaid. Discussions held at the NSHR headquarters in Riyadh also addressed the unjust military and civilian trials some Muslims are subjected to in America. Mufleh Al-Qahtani, Chairman of the NSHR, briefed the US delegation on the work of the society, particularly with regard to women's and children's rights and the culture of human rights in Saudi society. He also referred to numerous human rights cases and differences in the concepts between Islam and the Western world in this field. The meeting was also attended by Saleh Bin Muhammad Al-Khathlan, Deputy Chairman of the society; Saleh Al-Shareedah, Lt. Gen. (retd.) Abdul Aziz Henaidi, Abdul Khaliq Aal Abdul Hayy, Abdul Jaleel Al-Saif, Noorah Al-Yusuf, Thurayya Abed Sheikh and Khalid Abdul Rahman Al-Fakhiry, NSHR Supervisor of Financial and Administrative Affairs.
