Ethnic Tamil civilians, who escaped from the areas controlled by Tamil fighters rest at a transit center close to Vavuniya, about 210 kilometers (131 miles) north east of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Saturday. More than 10,000 civilians fled from Sri Lanka war zones as government troops cornered the rebels in a small sliver of land.
