Prices of powder milk and long-life milk will by cut between 7 and 20 percent this week, traders said. Traders in the Eastern Province said they have received the new price lists from foodstuff importers. The importers want the new prices put into effect immediately, the traders said. They said global prices of several essential consumer products, especially powder and long-life milk, have fallen of late. Importers expect prices of most other imported consumer products to register a significant drop in the months ahead. “The new lists showed a substantial decrease in the prices of some brands of imported powder milk,” said Ahmad Al-Zahir a foodstuff merchant in Dammam. “The price of the 25-kg powder milk pack has dropped from SR570 to SR330 – a decrease of 40 percent.” The kilo-price of this brand will hence come down to SR10 from SR 22, he said. The price of Nido has fallen by 20 percent from SR482 a carton to SR349, Al-Zahir said. Anchor powder milk is now sold for SR340 a carton compared to SR392, registering a drop of 13 percent. Abu Qoos ‘Rainbow' milk is down to SR295 from SR378. The price-drop of a packet of long life milk varies from SR5 to SR10. Abu Alam ‘Flag' has dropped from SR143 to SR133, Abu Qoos from SR165 to SR150 and Luna from SR135 to SR130.
