“Please boycott US/Israeli products. Make it a habit, not a short-term response” emails and SMS are spreading all over the Kingdom and Arab World to raise new calls for the boycott of Israel and US products in protest against the massacre of Palestinians by the Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip. Some international franchises in the Kingdom are suspected of supplying Israeli products in the Kingdom. While campaigners stress the positive effects of a boycott, they also confirm that local business would bear the impact of the boycott's effect. “We must resort to this boycott again and should never use these goods,” a campaign supporter told Saudi Gazette. Prominent Islamic scholar, Dr. Yousuf Al-Qaradawi, on Friday reiterated his call for boycotting American and Israeli goods and the cleric said the earlier boycott proved effective. “The Israeli war on Gaza and the massacre of innocent Palestinian women and children is a crime against humanity and all that I can do is boycott their products,” said a non-Muslim who has been living in the Kingdom for 15 years. Boycotters believe that even if they are harming local companies in the short-term, in the long run these businesses will stop importing American and Israel-based products. Earlier there were campaigns to boycott Danish products in reaction to that country's media publishing offensive caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The economy of Denmark was badly hit and lost millions of dollars due to a boycott of Danish-made products and brands in the Muslim World.
