Anan Iskan awarded ISO certification
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 10 - 10 - 2015

ANAN ISKAN the first workers accommodation expert in Saudi Arabia, has adopted and been awarded International standards for workers' accommodation as set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001), demonstrating the company's continued commitment to implementing health and safety measures.
The certification is an internationally applied standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It exists to help all kinds of organizations put in place demonstrably sound occupational health and safety performance. It is a widely recognized and popular occupational health and safety management system.
One of the main challenges faced by the labor force in Saudi Arabia is the lack of proper workers' accommodation. Stakeholders are struggling to find successful solutions to this issue amid unimplemented regulations and poor awareness, which are the two main reasons behind the problem. Developing adequate housing for workers is a must to replace the current system laborers live in. For decades, safety and health conditions have been absent in Workers' accommodation, posing risks to workers.
Commenting on this, Anan Iskan CEO Faisal A. Alsayegh said: “Anan Iskan has been established in accordance with world-class standards for workers' accommodation that have been implemented in all our projects. There is commitment to Civil Defense conditions and workplace evacuation plans as well as safety and security measures, including surveillance cameras and early warning systems.”
He added: “Therefore, Civil Defense conditions and workplace evacuation plans have been implemented in all our projects. We are also committed to providing an integrated security team using specific tools and measures, including a fingerprint biometric entry system, one of the most modern systems in the world.” Anan Iskan also works in line with Islamic traditions calling for preserving the rights of workers.
Anan Iskan currently owns and operates projects in Jeddah, Makkah, Ras Al Khair, and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and one in Qatar consisting of: three workers housing complexes consisting of apartment units and four on-site housing complexes that can be relocated to other sites after a project has been completed. Anan Iskan complements its housing solutions with optional management and maintenance services for employers seeking the expertise of housing professionals to maintain a healthy and satisfied workforce. —SG
